Abu Simbel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is renowned for its two massive rock temples built by Ramses II. The temples, carved into the mountainside, showcase impressive statues and intricate hieroglyphics, providing a captivating glimpse into ancient Egyptian history and architecture. Rameses II built it; the Abu Simbel temples were built by
Pharaoh Ramses II during the 13th century BCE, during the 19th Dynasty of ancient
Egypt. The temples, known as the Great Temple of Ramses II and the Temple of Hathor and Nefertari, were constructed to commemorate Ramses II's victory at the Battle of Kadesh and to honor the pharaoh himself, as well as the gods Ra-Harakhty, Amun, Ptah, and the deified Ramses II. The construction of Abu Simbel aimed to showcase the power, grandeur, and divine connection of Ramses II's reign. It was relocated during the construction of the Aswan Dam to prevent the Templo from remaining underwater.
DAY 6 | DRIVE TO LUXOR
Today, you will journey to Luxor overland. The direct drive between these two cities, without any stops, requires just over 3 hours via the highway. Opting for the "scenic route" along the countryside routes along the eastern side of the Nile River extends the travel time to four and a half hours. However, there are three important temples to visit on the way to Luxor: Kom Ombo, Edfu, and Edna. Adding these three stops extends the travel time to 9.5 hours from Aswan to Luxor.
Arriving in Luxor, the southern part of Egypt, we will take a sightseeing tour of the ancient Temples of Karnak and Luxor in the East Bank and stroll the Avenue of the Sphinxes and the Hypostyle Hall. Later, we are moving on to visit Luxor Temple to take a closer look at the colossal statues of Pharaohs like the Great Ramses II.

necropolis of Thebes, and see the beautiful and elaborate tombs of Ancient Egyptian rulers.
