In the morning, embark on a brief journey to the High Atlas Mountains, reaching the quaint village of Imlil. Upon arrival, secure your primary luggage and load your overnight essentials onto pack mules. Embark on a picturesque 1-hour trek to the serene town of Aroumd, nestled on a rocky outcrop. This secluded locale provides breathtaking vistas of the renowned High Atlas Mountains and a unique chance to dive into the rich traditions of Amazigh culture.

Spend the night in a family-operated mountain gite, enveloped in the comforting aroma of woodstoves and freshly baked bread, where traditional hospitality and home-cooked meals await. Utilize the remainder of the day to explore the village and its adjacent farmlands.

Should the group be inclined and weather permits permit, there's an optional chance to hike to the pilgrimage shrine of Sidi Chamharouch (approximately 4 hours round trip). Regardless of your fitness level, the unhurried pace of Aroumd creates a distinctive environment for exploration, allowing you to venture beyond the boundaries of the modern world.

Helpful Information: Your travel time on this day will be approximately 2 hours. The optional hike to the Sidi Chamharouch shrine requires appropriate footwear.  However, walking shoes with rigid and grippy soles will be just as good. You will walk over well-trodden paths that may be muddy and unstable.

  This morning, embark on a scenic journey along mountain roads, traversing Morocco's highest pass, Tizi n'Tichka, at 2260 meters above sea level. Your destination is Ait Ben Haddou, situated on the fringes of the Sahara Desert. Nestled atop a hill and unchanged since the 11th century, Ait Benhaddou is one of Morocco's most iconic and UNESCO-listed World Heritage sites.

Once a pivotal rest stop for caravans transporting salt across the Sahara, it witnessed the exchange of goods such as gold, ivory, and enslaved people. Does its distinctive appearance seem familiar? Ait Benhaddou boasts an extensive film and TV portfolio featuring renowned productions like Lawrence of Arabia, Game of Thrones, and Gladiator.

Embark on a guided stroll through the labyrinthine streets of the Old Town, ascending to the hill's summit for panoramic views of the surrounding plains. Your evening unfolds at your leisure, with the option to participate in a local cooking demonstration and relish a meal showcasing Morocco's culinary treasures, including the renowned couscous and tagine.

Indulge in a stroll through the lush palm groves, immersing yourself in the tranquil surroundings. Explore the traditional ksars, marvel at their architectural charm, and meander through the idyllic countryside surrounding this small oasis town.

The enchanting allure of Zagora offers a perfect interlude for a deeper connection with the natural and cultural wonders that grace this unique desert oasis.

Explore a captivating library housing ancient scripts encompassing science, literature, the Koran, and narratives of Prophet Mohammed (availability subject to unpredictable opening hours). Subsequently, join a local guide to discover the underground Kasbah.

Indulge in a hearty Medfouna lunch – affectionately known as the 'Amazigh Pizza' – a crisp flatbread filled with a medley of savory ingredients such as beef, egg, and vegetables. Continue your journey to the frontier town of M'Hamid, where you'll transition to 4WD vehicles for a thrilling drive to the expansive Erg Chegaga dunes.

As the largest dune in the Moroccan Sahara and less frequented, this promises a unique, remote experience away from nearby towns and villages. Arrive in the late afternoon and prepare for an unforgettable adventure – a camel ride into the Saharan sunset. Embarking on a camel trek through the Sahara is a trip highlight. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can opt to walk alongside the camels. The journey typically lasts about an hour. The camp is modest, equipped with bedding and basic shared toilet facilities.

While the provided blankets offer sufficient warmth from April to October, you might want to bring your sleeping sheet or a jumper for extra warmth between November and March. Since the camp has no electricity, you should ensure your phones, cameras, and other essentials are fully charged before arriving.       

On our way to the Zagora Desert, we encounter Tamegroute, a historic village in the Draa River Valley of southern Morocco, renowned for its rich cultural heritage and distinctive green pottery. Steeped in centuries of history, Tamegroute was once a hub of Islamic scholarship and trade, boasting a renowned Quranic library and a network of madrasas that attracted scholars from far and wide. The Zaouia Naciri, Tamegroute's famed Quranic library, preserves a treasure trove of ancient manuscripts, including rare copies of the Quran, drawing visitors intrigued by Islamic heritage and scholarship.

A day trip to Essaouira from Marrakech presents an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the city's enchanting medina (old town), discover its historical ramparts, and witness the lively fishing port.
An outstanding feature of a day excursion to Essaouira is exploring the city's medina, acknowledged as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The medina unfolds as a vibrant labyrinth of narrow streets and alleyways adorned with lively shops, art galleries, and quaint cafes.

Delve into the experience by perusing an array of souvenirs and handmade crafts, or indulge in local delicacies at one of the many food stalls.
